I commented to my uncle, as we were walking around in the Nevada desert, "When we were kids, we would have been almost certain of getting caught in quicksand on a hike like this". Hell, it happened every week. As far as commonplace accidents are concerned, getting caught in quicksand has been replaced by getting t-boned by a garbage truck. GD

Or was that just a scene from “The Magnificent Seven”?

He doesn’t like to talk much about the war …Smart!

but he has seen some sh|t. Seen or??

He did say just carrying it put a certain amount of fear into the Iraqis. And how could he know that? After engagement interviews probably.

I bought a set of throwing knives a few years ago. I was so good I gave them away. Won't be buying any more throwing knives.

Wikipedia says thrown knives and quick-sand are about the same in deaths.

I cannot remember the recipients name or the name of the town. I first read about it in Eckert’s "The Wilderness War".

I know. They carry a lot of artistic license! Most of his stuff is total conjecture. And very dated. Especially all his stuff on Simon Kenton and The renegade Bluejacket. But,,,,

It was Icabod Alden at the Cherry Valley massacre in 1778.

They are fun! 🤣🤣🤣. I too, have read many. I suppose my favorite was the Courtmartial of Daniel Boone. There is factual stuff in them. Ya just gotta take some of the stuff with a grain of salt.

If I recall correctly in a Sherlock Holmes movie a circus performer on the deck of a ship threw a knife through a porthole at his intended victim.
