Today was a huge win.

Sometimes, going to garage sales with your wife can pay off. And like most, I normally let her go by herself. Today however, I took her to a place after we were finished shopping. She didn't buy anything, but I came away with these. 12 boxes of 30-30 @$5 a box. I offered her $10 a box and she said, I could have all 12 for $60. "I want it gone." Okay, deal!

I haven't bought any 30-30 factory ammunition in a long time. One of them had a $24.99 sticker on it. All were full boxes. I did a quick check after getting home. I figured that I saved about 60-70%, but that was wrong. Even the cheap factory Remington and Win is $40 a box! Once fired brass costs more.

I guess it can pay to go to garage sales.

Holy smokes I don't even own a 30/30 and I'd buy all that ammo for that price!

Great deal, just for the brass alone.

It will be fun to fire off the Win and Rem ammunition for the brass and to check the primer pockets for proper centre alignment of the flash holes. I have no idea how old some of it is, but I just put a reflex sight on my Mossberg 464, and having this come along when it did was kismet.

Thanks, Jim. It was luck to find it, that's for sure!

Cheers.

Steve Redgewell: Good for you!
That indeed was a great find.
Couple of inquiries/observations though:
#1: Isn't it still winter up north?
There hasn't been a garage sale, yard sale, estate sale or the like here in SW Montana for many months!
#2: "I" (being a male!) never pass up a garage/yard/estate sale!
Are things different up in Canada?
By the way "all" your neighbors (tens of thousands of them anyway!) have been travelling N/B this past couple weeks on Intestate 15 heading back to all the Canadian Provinces from "sun country" here in the U.S.
Long live Canada.

Just an idea, but why not drop the lady a check in the mail for $40? You’ll floor her with your generosity and still have a great deal. 😎

I did that, or something like it. The money will go to the church though.
