Agree 100% with this, and what RR said in earlier posts. Mesa Verde is a do not miss location. Take the guided hiking tours of the cliff dwellings. Our youngest and I toured the 4 corners area when he was 13, MV was part of the trip. We also criss crossed the Navaho and Hopi Reservations in our travels, 20 years later he still comments about it. My only other advise is drinks lots of water and wear sunscreen! Have a ball.

Water and sunscreen for sure; the UV here is intense. And, if you are coming from down low near sea level, be aware that the altitude here WILL wreak havoc on you. You'll be short of breath after climbing one flight of stairs, and the zero humidity will have your skin and lips cracking like a dried up mud flat. Don't plan any heroic hikes. Trust me on this.

Stay in Durango to see that, and check out the train museum, even if you don't have time to take the all-day spectacular steam train trip to Silverton. Ditto on the Four Corners being blah. It isn't even in the right place, they now know, LOL! .

Bryce Canyon ought to be at the top of your list. Early morning and late evening viewing times are the best. Also don't miss Goblin State Park.

All good stuff, thanks much. What do people recommend for restaurants in Moab and SLC?

The Moab brewery has great food, there is also a pizza place there , I think Zac's? In SLC try Ruth's diner.
