I didn’t want to side track another thread but the question came up. I thought the constraints on eligibility for the office were set up by the Constitution only. It was my understanding that there were no limitations placed on a felon assuming the office if elected. Am I wrong?

Jaguartx is correct. You would be amazed in how many county sheriffs are convicted felons.

Yes but the question remains can a felon , in prison hold office? That has never been adjudicated.
Decades of voting for the lesser of two evils has gotten us just that.....

I expect the object may be to convict and jail Trump in order to get him dead.
I expect he will be found guilty and jailed which would be him again being the first and setting precedence among past presidents.

Article II of the Constitution spells out the requirements for POTUS and it does not mention anything about a conviction for anything being disqualifying. If they want it to be disqualifying then it would require amending the Constitution. Period.
