I seen that easter rabbit runnin around the compound this morning. Sent the German Shepperds out to find the security fence breach. They still aren't back. I fear the worst. I shoulda shot that rabbit when I had the chance.

A moose was helping them find the eggs. Are they ( moose ) common around those parts?

Pretty common. They wander all over town during the Winter and there are even a few around in the Summer. But it's really hard to get a moose license. I don't bother applying any more.

Joe, thanks for asking buddy. It was with great trepidation and a little constipation that after a few hours I gathered up enough cabbage to go outside and have a kook. It was exactly almost sorta kinda what I feared. There was egg yodel all rover. The dogs had found the rabbi, which had dropped his bouquet of brightly carved Easter Aggs and made a dash under the fiance'. The dogs, unable to follow on account of the diminutive size of the brisket in the fence, conflatulated themselves with the rabbi's newfoundland spoils.
Thankfully Cadbury didn't turn on Trisket and Precious. You can't trust a flop eared chicken.

Roy, thanks for the update, glad all is well with the hounds. Those Wild Cadbury's can be dangerous. I was just talking to an old friend and he kinda, sotra, rekindled my urge for a Roosevelt. You have any of them in your backyard? Do they still roam the rainy forests?

Joe, sadly, Roosevelts, locally known as Roseys, have really taken a beating in recent times. While they are indeed native to the area, the best group being seen frequently is right along Interstate 5 near Glendale and Sunny Valley Oregon. They travel a 7-9 day circuit in search of feed and are frequently seen crossing the local rifle range if you can believe it. Also they are most often seen in the Colonial Valley, just a few miles from my house, scattered amongst the houses of an old abandoned golf course. They have found their best chances for survival are on private land, in close proximity to humans, I think in an effort to avoid the wild Cadbury's that are now so prevalent.
Rosey calf recruitment has dropped 57% since the introduction of the non-native, egg-thieving Cadburys. It's a well-documented fact that Cadburys can and do readily steal elk eggs from unsuspecting cow elk while they forage for sustenance or rest in the shade from the hot sun. This puts a much higher than normal stress load on the elk herds, which reduces productivity and overall vigor.
Until the land is purged of these non-native, invasive Cadburys, we hold out little hope for ungulate recovery in southern Oregon.
As always, shoot straight, and carry plenty of candy bars my old friend.
