This stock was in a safe when my garage burned. I can't say whether the cracks are from heat or from the firefighters pushing my safe over, or both. I don't know.
At the suggestion of a member here, I asked Joe Ducos if he could repair the cracks. He said he thought so, for $100.
I have put some stress on this stock to see if I could get any flex at all and I could not. The crack nearest the screw hol does not extend to the hole. I don't believe a person would have any issue at all using it as it is.
I have no idea what this would be worth to someone, so some help would be appreciated.
This is for an 84M - 6.5CM. The indoor lighting really makes the blemishes stand out. None of the blemishes are deep. I don't know how one would care for these stocks, but maybe they'd rub out or lighten.
Kimber makes a pretty good stock from the looks of it. Throw some 24 hour epoxy or jb weld in those cracks and it'll be good to go. May look into a Montana after seeing this.
I didn’t know CRACKS could be rubbed out! How do you do that?
They can't be "rubbed out". I would cut the crack out, then lay in New fiberglass cloth in the bad spots. Fill in the body work with acraglas gel, sand off the old finish, prime and repaint. To do it correctly, it's going to cost $200 to have it done(or so). Not trying to rip you off, but I know that there is at least 4 hours of work, and some skill required to do it right.
Longshot nailed the correct repair technique. Seen lots of repairs on boats with spider cracks, essential the same. That's the only way to do it right. Good luck, Dick
