Was just looking at the new Marlin guide gun 45-70 online. They look pretty nice. Any opinions on the new rifles? I have two made by Marlin before they were sold to Remington I believe then Ruger? How are the new ones in comparison?

I’d get one sight unseen. The couple I’ve handled were awesome. Smooth and well put together.
I’d never by another Remington made one unless I got to handle them first for comparison.

I haven’t handled a new Marlin yet, but given the prices they are going for, and how scarce they are, I wouldn’t hesitate to look for a JM Marlin of my liking.

I have a 2018 Marlin 1894c. I have no idea what the hooplah is about Remlins, mine is high quality, reliable with beautiful wood. I am convinced it is another made up myth by people who don't even own one. That being said I will never buy another one because the prices from Ruger are absolutely insane, I wish Ruger would start making the tube fed 22 mag XT series.

Had a buddy with a Remlin ‘95 with a big gap at the tang, that of course eventually busted the wrist. I wanted a Remlin .45 Colt. Looked at two. One had a lever that simply would not budge open. The other had off center front sight, way off center rear sling stud, and really crappy finish. So no Remlins for me, thanks. I did buy a Henry. But they’re $8-900 these days (Ruger’s MSRP on a guide gun is around $1200) so cheap levers ain’t really a thing anymore.

I have a Remlin 444 with a Marlin barrel on it, likely a leftover and it's an early one, but it was rough as a cob until it was smoothed out with alot of love. Buddies had Remlins as well and with some work, they were okay, but alot of them had issues.
