My son and I often shoot together on Mondays. A "Monday Gunday" thing. Today he picked me up and I brought two Marlin rimfires with me to the gun club.
The scoped rifle is the first rifle I ever shot, about 1961 or so. My father eventually put a little 2.5x Leupold on it out of deference to his aging eyes. It's mine now, and I surely do cherish that little 39M. The other is my 39A which I bought quite a while ago. Not too long ago I set it up with a Skinner rear sight which works just dandy. We thoroughly enjoyed our range session.
A range session with my son and a couple of great .22 Marlins really made my day.
Thanks. Ya, I do like the Marlin 39's. I enjoy shooting them so doggone much. A lot of that might be nostalgia, thinking about plinking with Dad when I was young. They are good rifles though, I've no doubt about that.
Wonder if Ruger/Marlin will bring the 39 back into production?
Monday Gunday sounds like a great tradition! I have a 1977 39A with a Williams peep sight. One of the first times my daughter in law came to visit we took that one out and it turns out she’s a darn good shot. (Doesn’t mean she’s getting my gun though.)
