Bob, there isn't any flat tip bullets being produced in 7mm that I know of. The hornady 139gr flat tip was a good bullet but they discontinued it. They still make a 120gr flex tip bullet that would work in a tubular magazine but I haven't seem them in stock lately. I shoot a 7-30 waters in a single shot contender so I am not restricted to flat tip bullets. Sometimes those old 139gr bullets show up un the classifieds. Good luck with your search. Scott.

Did not find any flat nose 7mm bullets at the gun show but did find Sierra Pro Hunter #1910 140 grain Spitzer. 284 bullets. Anyone have experience on game with.these bullets? Are they as soft as most Sierras? Mb

Bullets will appear from time to time. I have found 120 gr 7mm flat bullets on Gunbrowker and 130 gr 7mm flat bullets here in the classified. So you can find bullets, but you have to look for them and when you find them you will feel lucky.

About 4 or 5 years ago Federal was selling 7-30 water ammo.

How about filing the tips flat?
I have not done this ,but would do it.
I would snip and file.
Has anyone done this? Thoughts ?

Worst case scenario is to load one pointed bullet in the chamber and then load a second in the magazine. A cousin did that with his .30-30 because he wanted a flatter shooting round. I don't know if it was worth the trouble, but he did it until he bought a bolt action rifle.

I suggested Gold Country Custom bullets to make a .284 Flat Tip, they came up with a 139 grain version, we here at Duck Creek Sporting Goods just added them the the inventory, seeking opinions and feedback
