2.240 to fit 20s to be on the safe side, TRUST me there. Or shorter.
To fit 30s nothing longer than 2.230.

Another question for you Jeff...

Have you gotten around to testing any Benchmark in your .223's? Looking at load data it is probably slower with the heavier bullets than say Varget or RL15.

I got brass and dies ordered and will pick my RRA up after finals are done. Trying to decide on a powder that will give good velocity but also "throw" easy as I'd like to be able to load relatively fast for the AR. I know we've talked about some of this already. I know you also don't like H4895 that much as it tends to reach pressure to quick, but it seems like it would be a good powder. I may only shoot 69grain bullets, not sure yet. I don't have Varget on hand, but it seems to me that I can throw H4895 more consistently than RL15. How does Varget meter for you? I'm not real worried because I know I should be able to find a sweet spot, but these small dilemnas are a good distraction from school right now wink.

Varget measures good enough in a good measure. I shoot Benchmark in the 6mm WOA, I have not tried it in the 223, though our state junior team has used it supposedly with success, though the scores don't show, but most go for the fun, not the shooting skills...

Sorry I can't help more.

Do agree RL15 sucks in the measure too.

Thanks for the info Jeff and Jeff. I'm curious about real world Benchmark velocities with .223. Is varget as fine as h4895? I've just never used Varget before...thanks.

Varget ain't bad compared to 4895.

Don't hesitate to try 4895 in your upper, seems to be variable between uppers!

Benchmark worked out good speeds for the 6mmwoa, from data its why I picked it to work with. Unfortunately for some, the first charge I picked as an educated guess, dropped 3 of the 85 tsx into well under an inch and I stopped load work and started killing...
Benchmark is a good sub for Varget, as I found Varget ran out of steam on heavy bullets when using moly and pushing the limits, but on 69s it ran really well.
