Alright, I just had to clarify. You were close!! Found a cool little 270fwt, made in 1956. It will be good buddies with my 1956 30-06fwt. The 270 is well used and has an older (very good condition) gloss Leupold 2.5-8x36 on top. Should I feel guilty that I paid $729.99? Bought a standard weight 270 yesterday as well, for about the same price. Good day for 270’s I guess??
Need pics to evaluate this deal.

Since we all know the 270fwt is kind of hard to find, this one had to go home with me. I would have been kicking myself in the AZZ, if I had not bought it!!

I need to install a red pachmayr, so I pulled the crap recoil pad off of it. Cleaned her up today, and scoped it. It's already been glass bedded and it looks like they did a fine job. After the recoil pad is on, I'll shoot it. Rifling looks to be in great condition. However, the rifle has seen a lot of use...

Btm metal was not on, as I was still cleaning the rifle. When I get it all put back together and shoot it, I'll give you guys a range report. I'm hoping it does half way decent!!

This SOB was dirty, but it cleaned up pretty good.. Front sight hood is on order!! Even though, this one is not 100% original, and not in excellent condition, they did not know what they had. Also keeping in mind that it came with a $300.00 (after further evaluation) Leupold:

Thanks guys. The funny thing is I was going to buy a pre war (1940) 30-06, that needs some work. The shop offered it to me for $650.00, last time I was there, but I did not make it that far. After finding 2 270's (std and a fwt) at 2 different shops, that was my budget!! I was looking forward to working on that pre war too, but these 270 Winchesters were a pretty good find. I can' t complain.

Thanks Scotty. I figured it would be good for dragging out in the woods. If I could find a Mcmillan hunters compact for it, that would be the ticket. Until then, I'll just put the red pachmayr on it and use it as is.
