I’m thinking of putting together another custom chambered in 338-06. Will be built on a Model 70 Classic platform.

With powder prices through the sky, I’ve found that Ramshot XTERMINATOR, Hunter & Big Game have been easier to obtain and produce superb accuracy.

Does anybody have load data for a 180 & 200gr bullet using these powders? Thanks.

If you build an Ackley I do. Thinking Hunter will be too slow, especially in a standard case. Big Game works very well with 180s & 200/210s in my 338-06 Ackley. Charges are not compressed, so it might work well in the standard case too. Never tried Xterminator, but guessing from its place on the burn rate chart it may be way too fast for optimal performance, but stranger things have happened.

My 338-06 was a Remington 700 Long Range 30-06 rebored by JES.It is one of the best shooting rifles I own.I really like the 200gr bullets, both the Silver Ballistic Tips and Accubond. My rifle shoots them both same POI.It's accurate with several loads.I have found it shoots well with so many powders, but I keep going back to Big Game because it always groups so well with it.I use the WLRM Primer and resized Winchester 30-06 once fired cases necked up on all of them. Here is my load data.
180gr Accubond 58.0grs Varget 3010fps
180gr Accubond 60.0grs Big Game 2940fps
200gr Accubond 60.0grs 760 This load grouped good just never got a velocity on it
200gr Accubond 62.0grs H4350 2740fps
200gr Accubond 63.0grs Hunter 2730fps
200gr Accubond 59.5grs BLC-2 2830fps
200gr Accubond 56.0grs Varget 2849fps
210gr Partition 54.0grs Varget 2721fps
200gr Accubond 59.0grs CFE223 2807fps
200gr Accubond 59.0grs Big Game 2812fps
200gr Accubond 61.0grs Accurate 4350 2661fps
210gr Partition 59.0grs Accurate 4350 2777fps

I found Big Game perfect for 225gr . 2650 with a 22" barrel.I got the 2650 from a magazine that used a strain guaged rifle for pressure. It was only recently SAAMI ed. I was using Federal brass because I have a lot, but it's also the heaviest I have of 30-06 brass. My Lee die set expanded the neck easily. My rifle is a FN with a 3.4" magazine . Longer would have been nicer. i have taken my first moose and my first elk with it.

For the star cross of accuracy and velocity, look at H 380....

May I ask what charge of BG you used under the 225? Looking for good starting point. I found Hunter lacking.
Thx

I had look through my notes to be sure, I had tried 73 loads before I found the one I liked. I used 61grs, which is likely all I could get in those Federal cases
