Just checked again, the pattern in rule is not exactly the same as there are three points in front on the one pictured in Rule. My mistake

Looks to be a Lyman 17A.

I’m leaning towards some homegrown checkering, pg cap, & studs; like I thought originally. That rearward extension on the pistol grip just doesn’t look well executed. I’m wondering if it was done to hide something.

IDK I'd love to see a s/n on it also. The inletting looks kinda sloppy but the overall dimensions of the stock just look so factory.

Crack or other imperfection. You can almost make out something on the right side, pistol grip.

I agree with you about the dimensions of the stock, and that it started life as factory; but isn’t now.

Advertised with having "light handling wear". BS, that rifle has seen some major use. Been shot a lot and used. Carried a lot, but well cared for. The ding in the muzzle irritates me. It's a transition model, made in 1947. Of course, the front sight is unoriginal, and the rear sight looks more like a 48WH to me. The stock looks Winchester to me, as does the checkering, like the class 2 special order, shown on page 259 of Rules book. The listing also does not specify bore condition. That would be nice to know. It's probably fairly priced, but if I were buying, I'd want to know bore condition.

Grip cap transition to metal wasn’t until ‘51; to say nothing of the checkering on it.

The picture referenced on page 259 states “all other supergrade features” - which would have included a cheek piece. It’s also difficult for me to make out much detail; it might be better in the hardback.

The checkering “extension” is very angular - unlike the style referenced by pocono on page 30.





I would like to see better pics (especially of sg style studs) but I’m still going with standard stock; spruced up.

Turns out, they did, as a class 4 special order for left handed shooters.
