A local guy had to go to a care home so he dumped several old Winchester rifles at a local shop. They had 7 or 8 pump 22s model 06 I believe

I looked a one and it had a fold down tang peep on it. I was in a hurry but plan to go back. Most were around $800. Is that an OK deal? What should I look out for next trip in?

in nice, original condition that price is not too far off. But, it has to be original and not restored.

Based on your questions, considering the information you've provided, I'd suggest... Maybe to check & see if your local guy wants a roommate? frown
Good Luck!

With out looking it up I believe the 06 is a smaller length barrel and stock(junior) same action profile as 1890 and 62a.
I like them all but prefer 90’s and 62’s.
Price maybe ok but seems slightly elevated. But I haven’t priced one in a while. I did sell my 62a a few months ago at the Nampa show for $800 and it was nice

The Winchester Model 1906, (06), was made from 1906-1932 slightly under 850,000 were mfg. a less expensive version of the Model 1890,(approx. 850,000 mfg. 1890-1932) Both are slide action Pump Rifles. Offered in Calibers .22 S., L.,or L.R. with a 20 inch round barrel. Having a smooth pump slide handle early and a later grooved handle, and even an expert grade scalloped style curvy looking slide handle from 1917-1925/(plain pistol grip stock). Many parts we're and are interchangeable with the Model 90.
It's pretty hard to find them in above average condition and all original at that although their out there. Like retired 3100 said:

There a lot of fun to shoot like most of the .22's are.
For me it really has to be in exceptional original Condition for me to pay $800.00. JMO!
