I have started sitting out in the narthex at the welcome desk during Sunay church service. I can cover the entire room and sit in a chair that allows me to see over the desk with only my head above the desktop. I can hear the service well. I told my wife yesterday a mass shooting is going to happen sooner or later.

Somebody has to do it. I have carried in Church for years, and still hope I never need it!

I always carry. Biggest worry is all the directions you can't shoot. Where to sit becomes interesting.

That’s the logic I follow when forgetting I’m armed and go into a gun free zone. If I present my weapon those around me will be glad I did. Make damn sure it’s worth it.

Well the persecution of Christians is alive and well with this Administration. I would have my head on a swivel as well.

It is advisable to do some research on bullets/loads that penetrate less. Over penetration should be considered. Almost all "tests" are done by FBI standards, but shooting in a crowd demands alternative thinking.
Also, Church security team should practice and train.

I get what you are saying but I still look at a situation like where to sit in church to give me the clearest shooting angle. That's just good sense if you are placing yourself in a guard position. Dude just starts spraying bullets at you as you are casually moving among others could be a different situation.

Our church has security cameras that are always monitored and multiple armed members There are usually enough LEO’s and military, active and retired, to put together a pretty good security detail. To not do so in this political climate is irresponsible. Not a good time to be a snowflake. Realists rule when the chips are down. DF

Multiple in our congregation unofficially carrying plus actual “security team” with ear pieces and mics spread around strategically.

Our church doesn't, but my brother's very rural but popular church rotates carrying crews to watch the entry and parking lots. He says there are multiple times that "folks" showed up during the service, saw the "guards" and promptly left. His sense is that the cars in the lot are as much a target as the church goers inside.

A couple of us carry. We have a small church and I hate that my back faces the entrance. Had a family there for awhile where the father just gave me some bad vibes. I always made sure I sat behind them. Thankfully they’ve moved to another city.

In some churches armed members are called gatekeepers here in the south anyway. Like has been said, it's wise to be carrying CONCEALED if you are fit and able in these days and times and IF you are mentally competent. So many nutjobs.................................
