Two people with extraordinary dexterity, balance, and not least, talent.
Not to be replicated today ... more's the pity.

Lots of people can dance that well, he was along when that was big in the movies, made a name for himself. Gene Kelly was better in my opinion, more athletic

Both Gene and Fred were excellent dancers, different styles. Watch some of Fred's rehearsal footage laid next to the actual film. It is about as close to a mirror as one could get. I met both Fred and Gene when they did the commercial for Western Airlines.
Its all right to be white!! Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience
Sexiest dance ever.Nothing is like doing The Tango with a young hard bodied woman. Makes your juices flow.

I don't agree that Kelly was "better" than Astaire. Their styles were very different; not comparable, in my opinion. I always liked Gene Kelly's dancing just as I liked Astaire's dancing. Kelly e was an athletic dancer whereas Astaire was more a ball room dancer. Both very creative and both with great talent.
As an aside, Rita Hayworth came to a tragic end: Alzheimer's dementia.

Dancers and actresses in Ritas day seem to me to have been a little sleeker and leggier than the current crop of thick thigh butt shakers of today. Not knowing personally, she seemed to be a lot classier too.

Notice too, in all the clips posted, and the old movies with dancing, the women wore spike high heels. Rita Hayworth, Ginger Rogers, Ann Miller, Cyd Charisse, etc., etc. That, in itself, is a testament to their great balance and dancing talent.
It's very rare today, to see women dancing who are wearing high heels. I do know some of the ballroom competitive women dancers do, but that is about all.
