I started a thread about IWB holsters, looking for guidance. Been researching. I'm tight, and fussy. Don't mind paying for happiness, but get paralyzed by the concern of spending coin and not being satisfied.
The whole process is driven by reading of "An expensive box of holsters not used".
I got to thinking.
If everyone buys bunches of $$ holsters they barely used, why don't we have a thread selling them?
The original owner can recoup some coin, the next guy gets to try something at a cheaper price.
Don't have anything worth the $hipping.
How bout you?

Look on 1911 Forum or 1911 Addicts or another if the primarily handgun forums. Seek and ye shall find.

Oh, I'll buy something.
This was slightly self serving ,but I was thinking it would be cool to focus a classified thread on holsters. The kind of thing where you just picked up a ModelXXX and check that thread to see what holster might be listed. If it got going, guys with a box of stuff could post it and forget it. Until contacted, then they would update the sold stuff.

Find out which holster the guy is keeping and buy that one. Getting 'second best' is how you end up with a big box of unused holsters.

There is that. But there is also the personal side. What fits one gut might not the next.

WE had a pawn shop in Henderson years ago that had a big bin of holsters. You could trade and exchange for a small fee. I took in a Ruger bearcat trying out holsters and found one marked for H R 22 that fit great been using it for for 30+ years. Was a great idea have not seen any thing since. charlee

I don't remember if it was here or the old Shooters.com forum, but way back then we had a thread titled "the holster box" or "the holster drawer." Guys would list what surplus holsters they had to give away. IIRC, it had a pretty long run.
I've only ever sold one holster. It was a popular model that I just didn't like.

I used to buy used holsters from local gun shops and gun shows before everything went haywire and carnival hawkers took over the shows, and big box put the boot to mom&pop....
