I haven’t had anything from the latest Remington resurrection. I’d probably feel better about it if they just let the name die, since they’ve trashed the rep so bad. Bob’s Model 700 would seem more palatable.
The sample of one Bergara I had, there were no complaints. Even the bolt shroud didn’t really bother me….not sure I liked the tacky finish on the stock it had. Just cosmetics, though. I’ve not personally had major issues with 700s, though I’ve tinkered on a few for friends that did. There was a bad run of M24s that we got in for our scout platoons at the 101st around 1999-2000, that about 1 in 3 had to go back to Remington over receiver, bolt, and headspace/chambering being badly out of spec. Aside from that, I may have felt a 700 needed some TLC for smooth or fit….but have always been dependable for their task.
