What's the going rate to shorten a laminated stock, then furnish and fit a new Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad on a Remington 700?
Thanks,
Okie John

Joe Ducos (The Stock Doc) is your guy. Easy search for contact info. Hint. Not long ago received a LOP lengthened and Terry's Loggerhead comb on a MacaMillion stocked Custom 7mm RemMag from him. Top Notch as usual. Hint. Just sayin'................

Lessee.. I'm having one done right now.. I supplied the LimbSaver grind-to-fit which IIRC was $40 - $45. Gunsmiths time will be somewhere's around $70 - $75.
It's you and the bullet, and all the rest is secondary.

Any reputable gunsmith could do the job. I'm sure they learn recoil pad installation in the first week of training.

Ballpark $100. Make sure it’s someone who knows what he is doing. A crappy pad is horrible to look at

Mask it. Cut it. Screw it on. Mask it again. Grind it. Don't touch the wood. You never know, you might be more crafty than you think. Don't be intimidated by it. If you screw up the pad, try again. Won't be the end of the world.

I just do my own now. Got a cheap grinder at harbor freight. Bought a few used pads to grind and fit to wood for practice. I have done about 6 for myself and friends. They look pretty good, not pro quality but you have to look close to notice it isn’t. The toe angle is the tough part. I may but one of brownells fixtures.
One thing I learned is pad grinding makes a mess.
Be safe all. Spence
