Gents,
I haven't flown with a checked handgun for quite a few years. In the past, I've used a hard-sided Flambeau case with a pair of Brinks (brass/steel) keyed locks. Never had any issues. (The case has sliding latches, so when the locks are in place, it can't be partially opened, etc.)
So my question: anything new to be aware of, re: the locks? (I re-read the TSA rules and they say you can use any style/brand of lock... but I've seen dumber things unfold at the airport...)
Thanks y'all.

I just use two little cable locks. Never been an issue.

I recently checked a gun and didn't even have to open the case on one leg. I just used the locks integrated into the case. I was surprised when I checked the regs on locks as well as it seemed like a relaxation of the previous rules.

I fly with firearms quite a bit, about 1/2 dozen times a year. I only use a lock that only I have the key to. But be aware that you may need to wait around for about 15 minutes, just in case TSA will need to get in there to inspect. I just feel better having the case locked with locks that only I have access to.

The locks you use on the gun case should never be TSA locks. Use only the locks you you alone have the keys and don’t leave the area without getting your keys back.
Keys on your luggage must be TSA approved. Understand That makes the locks on your luggage virtually worthless.
Be aware you will be asked to stay until the run a couple of simple tests on your luggage and your gun case. Provided you get there early enough that the short delay in testing is not an issue.
