I have a Montana Rifle in 270 WSM and was told by the previous owner that it would not shoot. Upon research it seems that you either got a shooter or a non shooter Montana Rifle, and MRC would not stand behind their product. I want to rebarrel this, but am handicapped by the magnum boltface. I have a 6.5 WSM and a 358 WSM as well as an unfired 325 WSM. What are my caliber choices? The RSAUM line seems dead as well as the wildcats it sprung. The 6.5 PRC is alive and well (another Hornady marketing phenomenon), but redundant with the 6.5 WSM that I have and am happy with. I could go old skool with a 6.5 RM or 350 RM. I could also try to trade the bolt off for a .473 bolt, but I'm guessing I will have feeding issues where I can't add metal back the the rails.
For some reason, I like shooting myself in the foot on resale, and would prefer to go with a wildcat. I have no use for a 300 WSM.

What's wrong with a 7mm WSM. It seems overlap doesn't bother you.
Internet analysis: 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact Fools & fanatics are always so certain and wise people are always so questioning

I can be talked into a 7 WSM. Given the short magazine box length, it there a reason to go with the 8" twist??

Glad you asked - it forced me to go look at it. Turns out the mag box is missing. Looks like the action opening is 3.3" but the ejection port is much smaller. It might eject a spent long case, but I doubt it will eject a loaded round. I'm gonna dig on the interweb for a mag box.

I had an MRC that they made for Cabelas in 30-06. I was going to build on it but a buddy wanted it. I didn’t get it to shoot anything very well. He had it re-crowned and it shoots very well now.
In regards to your original question:
6PRC.
