Is there opertunity to shoot rabbits for an American In Australia or NZ? Kinda like we do prairie dogs Not enough to shoot thousands, but locally here you can wander out the road to one of the properties with red sandhills and enjoy a night or two shooting...see more at night. I am not aware of anyone shooting them professionally here at the moment.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

We would shoot jackrabbits in eastern Oregon as targets of opertunity back when we were shooting sage rats. Would be fun to shoot them in big numbers

There was no shortage of jackrabbits around burns The rancher told us to shoot everyone we saw They would only come out in evening and would have a good run on them for a half hour or so They would be headed to an alfalfa circle and were pretty districtive. I doubt they would be shot out Predictor population Probbly high

A jackrabbit ain't a rabbit, it's a hare. A cottontail is a rabbit but they don't have them over there. They have European rabbits which live underground in burrows.

There are certainly still jackrabbits in E. Oregon, but the populations go through cycles and some years get pretty low.

Ya, well someone killed off all the jack rabbit's in Oregon. Been here 33 yrs and haven't seen even one in more years than I can remember! That was me and my buddy. Thanks!!! We left in 1991 after our job was done.. Why have the ausies let the rabbits get so out of control over there? They don't shoot for sport? We used to have tons of them in Nevada when I was growing up there, but like I said, me and my buddies took care of them. Day in and day out. If you ever read JOC, that is how he learned to take running shots on game. One of the best forms of practice. Shooting deer and elk is so simple. ausies should try it??
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

They aren't out control. Their numbers were decimated by the release of calicivirus decades ago.
