The bolt stop lever has an operating spring. One end of that spring wraps over a rail on the reciever.

The Timney trigger does not offer clearance for that spring inside the reciever rail.

I have one rifle on which the end of the spring has been removed, which allowed the entire bolt stop assembly to fall out of the action after stock removal.

I have purchased a new factory bolt stop spring. And I have another Timney trigger to install on a 2'nd rifle.

Question??? Can I dremel a tiny cut in the trigger housing to allow an intact spring to fit?

Is there another trick a Pro can do, without cutting off the end of the spring.

Thank you in advance for advice.

I just got home and did some close inspection of the offending trigger.

It is obvious that there is no way to modify the trigger to accept the bolt stop spring. I will have someone build me a couple new springs which are long enough to reach behind the new trigger.

Every you tube video I have found shows them cutting off the end of the bolt stop spring. I find that an entirely unacceptable non-solution.

I agree. Don’t ever care to alter the mechanism. It is there for a reason.

What does Timney say about it?

What a waste, when the original trigger is very good.

For what it's worth, a Jewell will work fine with the factory bolt stop parts.

Too close for irons, switching to scope...

This factory original is not. It has been damaged. I consider it unsafe.

I do love the original model 70 trigger. I have had many.

As to a Jewell would be better. Probably!

Unfortunately, one rifle came with the Timney already installed. And I already have the second Timney in hand.
