Hello from MT. New to this forum and have a question. I recently picked up a model 1899/22 HP. I did a little work under the hood and the rifle now functions and shoots beautifully. My problem is that my eyes are getting old and I want to scope it. I have a firearms restoration business and could easily drill and tap it but I would never forgive myself. Does anyone know where I could find a Stith mount or some other no drill mount for the pre tang safety version.

My first choice would be the Lightfoot, which will be reintroduced as soon as some supplier issues are sorted out, I am told. Second would be the Stith if you can find one. Third is I have a Stith made for a Model 70 Winchester; I believe it could be modified to fit the 99, but I have not done that yet.

I have the rear half of a Stith but no front tube. I have used a Winchester tube on the 99 but the strap has to be bent to align with the rear. I used it for a Weaver V4.5 which has a short tube and the longer Winchester tube did the trick. That's a possibility if no other option pops up.
