Well, my last three DIY builds would do the trick from light, versatile and powerful enough:
6.5 CM (light, fun and easy to shoot)
308 Win (versatile, range of bullet weights, ammo generally available, good enough for anything in lower 48)
7mm PRC (heavy enough for anything I might hunt with 175s)

I'll never hunt in AK, so my lower 48 battery would be .223, 6MM Creed and 6.5 PRC. This has my vote as the least nostalgic list so far. Definitely not from an antique collector. I’ll bet Paul is the oldest thing in his house! 🤭
