I'm wanting to pop a couple red dot sights on a .22 and a .45LC revolver. I have a fairly bad astigmatism and have some troubles with Red dot clarity. I do have a Vortex Viper and a Venom on other handguns that work good. Tried a Riton which is horrible for me. Anyone else with astigmatism found a particular red (or green) dot that works really well for you?

I have not. They all "starburst" to some extent for me. You can turn down brightness to shrink dot which helps with the "burst".

Just a guess but I would think the Holosun circle dot would do best. Verify, though, just because I see a little less bloom doesn't mean everybody will.

Red and between Burris ff lll and holosun 507 or 407, the holosun is better for me.

Same here, astigmatism in both eyes.

All the red dots I tried will show some distortion so I had my optometrist make up some relatively cheap shooting glasses that only correct the astigmatism. Now all red dot sights I own show sharply defined round dots - several Burris Fastfires, Holosun 407 and 507 and a couple of Romeo5's on rifles. I can still use the red dots okay without them, they just work better when you want a finer sight picture.

The glasses don't help with open sights since they don't correct any other vision condition like presbyopia, but I just stick a Merit disc on them which brings the sights into focus and bang away.

The other way to go is to use an illuminated prism sight, those are focused just like a scope so the view isn't affected by astigmatism. They're usually bigger and made for rifles so the reticles tend to be "busy", but I looked through one yesterday without the corrective glasses and the reticle is as sharp as can be.

Does a green dot look as bad as a red dot to people that have astigmatism issues? Many sights are now being offered in a green dot version as well as the red.

I've been pondering the red or green dot game but my astigmatism is also bad.

Been tempted to spring for the Holosun 507 green dot with ACSS chevron instead of a dot, but that's a bunch of money to throw at something that may or may not work for me. I've looked through a couple of red dots before and they were pretty bad.

I didn't even realize that I had a mild astigmatism until I bought a red dot RMR. My red dot looked more like the shape of lower Michigan at the normal higher intensity, but I could turn down the intensity to a much lower level and it appeared smaller and sharper on a target.

My other auto is a .45
