Not really in the market to buy any more 99s but this one recently presented itself.

Not an easy gun to find in that caliber. My favorite caliber. Beautiful wood.

Handsome rifle.

Just got a little too expensive for me...

Wow, I figured that rifle would have sold for a lot more than that.

I can afford it, I just didn't want to pay that much for it. I didn't need it that bad.

I would have bid 1050 on it.

At 1220 plus tax, plus fees, plus shipping plus transfer fees, all of a sudden you are getting close to $1400

I wanted to get it cheap. grin

I was merely pointing out that it is a pretty gun in a hard to find configuration.

I bought an A earlier in the year, paid 2000.00 for it. It is a 375 Win. I don’t believe it had been fired

Just me but, that was an insane price to pay for a tang safety model.

I have zero interest in rifles that new so don't pay much attention but in 1971 I assumed all rifles came with sling studs?

If I didn't already have that caliber 99A and had known about the auction I would have pushed it to 2K. Maybe a little less for the studs and assuming no other wear.

I wouldn’t put sling studs on a gun that left the factory without them, actually wouldn’t buy a gun that had non-factory studs or swivels either

So just to be clear...you couldn't get past the extra holes?

grin

Is that really a killer?

I guess it depends on the person.

It's much easier for me to overlook sling swivels studs than holes drilled in metal.

There are only so many 50 year old minty 300 A saddle guns banging around out there.

If somebody really wanted a nicer one in that particular configuration, they might not ever see another...

I guess it’s hard getting a little respect in working your tail off to make a modest living that imposes limits on the amount of luxuries one can afford. And that’s not being cheap. Not at all.
