I've loaded only jacketed 200 grain XTPs with max load of longshot. I just expanded into hardcast. I purchased some 200 grain Montana Bullet Works 200 grain hardcast WFN-PB that are "coated". Do I need to do anything different to load these? Also can I use the jacketed longshot data with these bullets? I will work up to max load of 8.2 if so? Thanks

You can use the same load that you are using with the jacketed bullet. May need a little more powder to equal your current velocity, your chronograph will will let you know.
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

Have you looked at Hodgdon's data? 7.5 is their max for Acme's 200 gr coated lead bullet; gives almost equal velocity and more pressure than 8.2 with Hornady jacketed.
As said, watch your velocities, that is best.

My Wilson custom Delta Elite LOVES Longshot powder. I thought she loved Blue Dot….pfft. Longshot for the win with 180 and 200 grain XTP’s and Nosler JHP’s.

Me to....Son of the Gael
I have had decent accuracy with Longshot but also want to try N105 at some point....
Longshot seems to be a less expensive and more available option.

Thanks! I have seen the listed data; just wondered if anyone had tried/verified it.

🤣 IMO loads can only be verified as safe in your firearm. But then again if Viht can’t be trusted on their powder then I sure as hell won’t believe someone off the net.

Vihtavuoru 2023: 180 XTP - 10.6 gn N105 - 1286 fps 200 TMJ - 10.0 gn N105 - 1201
Me: 180 TMJ - 10.6 gn N105 - 1173 (4.5" bbl, others from 5") 180 Swift - 10.4 gn N105 - 1230 fps 200 Swift - 9.4 gn N105 - 1130 fps
N105 and 2400 are my favorites in the 10mm. I read somewhere that N105 is no longer imported to the US. Figures as I had just decided that it is my favorite 10mm powder.

Chronoed the 7.5 grain longshot with 200 grain hardcast. Got 1121 fps and 1111 fps. I didnt bother checking the rest.

I've loaded up to 8.4g of Longshot with a 200g xtp. However I've backed it down to 8.2g which gives me 1150 with a 200g xtp in my 4" guns. That load shoots well and us easier to handle and penetrates well without over expanding.
It's hard to beat Longshot in 40s and 10mms.

Nice! Im ok with 1120 ish if its accurate using hardcast. Im not sure i want to bump it up much since 7.5 is max for hardcast.

I have no such experience with 200 gr, but with 180 gr I have worked up 10mm loads with LONGSHOT to case failure.
Based on published data one would think LONGSHOT is the best, but in a work up, it loses to 800X and POWER PISTOL.

Thanks Clarkm. I don't temp fate so only went as high as book max. Accuracy is ok. Not great but should work for close hunting and target practice. My 7.1 grain of longshot is more accurate then my max load. I used Montana bullet works 200 gr. Coated hardcast. I re chrono'd today. 7.1 gave following: 1079 1069 1069 1087 1085 1090 1055 7.5 max load gave 1147 1132 1142 1128 1140 1121 https://postimg.cc/gallery/D7TCRPP25 yards rested Springfield XD Elite
