Try to find a replacement by data plate info, Grainger is one of the best resources for this.

Just ran into the same problem with my AC blower motor. Had to get on Graingers website and find a motor by spec and size. Yup, but most folks can’t read a data plate. This ^ on both counts. Not at all likely Portacool manufactures fractional horsepower electric motors. They may install a wiring harness on it at the most. Bought a certain number of motors to get their name put on the label that's all. Most motors are standardized/categorized etc. Face mount, cradle mount, base mount, etc. This one is a stud mount, capacitor start, multi speed, in loose terms. Heck there's even a 3 letter acronym for the capacitor thingy, I can't remember it though.. Keep diggin, you'll find one. And forget about getting one of that size rewound or repaired. Shops quit fooling with stuff that size 50 years ago.

I've never even heard of a Portacool before this thread. It's kind of like a reverse Knipco, without the stink.
I'll have to look at getting one for the fish house this winter when the stove gets too hot.

Did you call EW Motors? 1-800-695-2942 LinkPhil That number is PortaCool's number. I did quickly look up the website to see if there was one of these listed. No bueno. Next step is to contact Grainger tomorrow.

Look at HP, frame size, amp draw,RPM, Shaft diameter etc. the part number of the motor has a lot to do with the molex plug on the end.

Next step is to contact Grainger tomorrow. Grainger is good... fact. They also can be spendy. I have bought several item from Vevor (backhoe thumb, premium ultrasonic cleaner, meat grinder etc.) Stuff is OK by my standards. Direct Vevor Link here or thru Walmart as a reseller (discounted there sometimes). Good luck

Update
Got to the bad motor. Pulled the capacitor off and it was fried.
So electric-motor-gurus, how do I determine what I need for a replacement?

According to your data plate 15.0 micro Farad 370 volt I’ll post a pic of the plate on this particular motor in a few. Pic I posted the other day was a different unit, but should be the same. I’d hope.

Just from experience if the cap fried, more than likely the windings in the motor are shot since the caps only purpose is on startup.
