OP Whiptail Campfire Tracker Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 3,846 Austin, TX	It appears the 1.0L Ecoboost and some years of the 2.7L Ecoboost have "wet belts", meaning timing belts that are inside the engine and bathed in oil. I get the oil and rubber could be a bad combination but I would think that they have worked on a compound that could withstand it. The engine he tore apart that had teeth off of the belt could have been hot a bunch killing the belt. Never know. Last edited by 10gaugemag; 07/25/23. Oldelkhunter Campfire Ranger O Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 29,383	1.0 Ecoboost is extremely problematic with regard to any issue., Don't put Honda engineering in the same sentence as Fords. I believe the belt on the 3.0 Duramax is a wet belt as well they are designed to go 130-150k before replacement.

Timing belts run quieter and that is their only advantage and they hold timing marks a little better until they don't .

Uncle got lucky on one and didn't bend any valves or knock holes in any pistons. Ford 302 in an F-150. Lucky dude there. The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!

Electric actuated valves are the future. Less weight, no parasitic friction, infinite lift and duration to enhance performance at any load or rpm. Want a Jake Brake for your car? It could be programmed in. Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
