I had some scrap-salvaged parts, needed a feeder for a hog catching pen I’m gonna put up at my new-old lease tomorrow. I started yesterday morning, got it done except for putting winch on one leg and painting that leg.

Here’s the crap, seems like I’m always building something, have been since I was 10 yrs old, stilts, swings, skateboards. Don’t know if this is a good way to build one, but this is how I do it.

Got the wire to the motor, four rods that hold the motor, bottom bolts to the legs. I’ve forgotten the wire before, that sucks. Wire is piece of extension cord.

Then the funnel and top bolts to legs, will caulk around top of funnel

Added a third to it from another barrel, gas welded it, wish I had a wire machine sometimes. Should hold 400 lbs

Really enjoy your builds.

How do you life and move around these feeders on the lease? I must have missed if you added lift pts as some of the pictures didn't load.

Thanks.

I use this little trailer behind my Polaris or jeep. I can stand the tripod up by myself if I tie off two legs. Feeder isn’t heavy, just awkward. I can do it ok, even at my advanced age.

I was welding sides and painting plus putting a Bulldog hitch on the trailer. I put a piece of plywood in it. It had been abandoned at the deer lease by a guy that got off. I put sides on the 16 footer shortly after that. I built those jacks out of scrap when I was a second year apprentice in 73, long damn time ago.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]ok google where i am right now

If the bottom can’t slide, I can stand it up by myself. The first time I tried without help, SOB almost fell back on me. I put up 3 that day. I had feeders I had to climb up ladder to fill, got tired of that after 40 years.

Nice!

I’ll put those plastic funnels in the bottom ( inside the barrel).

You lose a little bit of capacity, but keeps corn from piling up in the corners.

Used to could get them at Academy for $20.

I’ve had the plastic funnels collapse-split on me. These are metal, 30 bucks

Got the winch on the pole, done deal now, should have it up, feeder pen too by this time tomorrow. I think I have 7 of these now.

Will look like this

I grew tired of these, built many like this, recently turned it into a hanging feeder in a pig trap. I’m gonna go up there week after next, maybe I’ll catch some.

I got it put up in Weirgate, Newton county, guess I’m an East Texas hunter again. The pigs will have the grass beat down before long, will bring tractor to mow soon.
