Revised

Electricity Time of Day rates

I'm on a TOU (time of use) rate plan

My weighted average was .0823 cents/kWh (82% Off-Peak)

Could go on an optional "flat rate" Plan - .14 cents/kWh (24x7)

July Bill - Summer Rates vs. May Bill - Winter Rates

Off-Peak = .0639 cents/kWh .0639 cents/kWh

Mid-Peak = .1182 cents/kWh .0823 cents/kWh

On-Peak = .1725 cents/kWh .1086 cents/kWh

Week days only. Week ends and holidays are considered "Off-Peak"

There is of course a laundry list of fixed fees that raise the total bill.

I am not registering some sort of complaint here, just curious if you are offered a TOU plan in your area by your utility provider and if so do you take advantage of it.

I work for our local electric CO-OP. I'm not too familiar with all the options but I know we offer a fixed rate. They take total paid for 1-3 years and average that out per month and you pay the same thing every month. I don't participate in the fixed rate program myself.

Xcel "fixed rate" is times your actual usage.

I think what you are referring to Nail, is a payment program. Xcel has something similar.

But, as you can see, there is quite a dramatic difference in rates on TOU. You don't want to turn anything on between 3:00 PM ---> 7:00 PM 'cause it gets damn ugly.

No A/C, no hot water, I’m such a low carbon paradigm they should hook me up for free 🙂

….but they don’t. There’s a minimum you pay just for being there.

I'm all for saving a buck. So I bought a solar system 2 years ago. My bill was 28 bucks last month even with running the ac 24/7.

Yes and yes. Three hour peak period from Three to six pm. Overcool the house before and Jack up the thermostat from 3 to 6. Works like a charm.

I basically do the same. Are the TOU rate differences as dramatic as I am seeing here?

Does the power company buy any electricity from your solar system?
