No, the supreme driver of economic forces and all other things is jealousy of Russia, especially Putin's Russia.
And the Jews with their space lasers.
Sarcasm? If not please explain
Very snide sarcasm.
You’re too stupid to realize that you were at least half right.
The West hates Putin for living in a country that still glorifies strong leaders that love and place their country first. By comparison see what the US media/propaganda and deep state did to Trump in order to put an incredibly weak puppet dementia Joe and his hoe in power.
It’s clown world but it isn’t 1945 anymore. Times change and the world changes.
If you bought a 30-30 when they first came out, it’s cost in gold would be approximately it’s same cost in gold today. It’s the federal reserve note that has lost all the value.
New model 1884 in .30wcf was $23 in 1895. Gold was $20.67/oz. So 1.113 oz gold
Today, gold is $1895 over the last year. 1.113 x $1895 = $2109. MSRP for a new 94 carbine is $1200 - $1300.
Very good, thanks for doing the math, plumbum. I did say approximately, and at the current rate of inflation it may not take long to narrow the gap. I think my point was valid and pretty spot on.
You are welcome of course.
There is more to it. The price of gold in 1895 was fixed by the US govt. So there is one departure from market forces.
The price of gold today is determined against a highly manipulated dollar, and we are in inflationary times. IDK what the monetary climate was in 1895.
According to a website, $23 in 1895 would have purchasing power of $835.42 today.
Given the lower relative cost of materials and manufacture, I would have expected today's 94 to cost relatively less over time.
There are many underlying presumptions in all of these comparisons, but I always find them interesting.

Manufacturing methods are cheaper today. Back in the day, master gunsmiths had to put their hands on each of them at every stage of manufacture. That expert labor was expensive.

You are operating under some very fundamental misconceptions with regard to a gold standard and gold's price. Gold only has a price when a nation isn't on a gold standard. The notion of gold having a price when there's a gold standard is a non-sequitur. Gold is simply the money. How much rice you can buy with an ounce of it may vary a bit, but that has nothing to do with gold having a price.
Was nice to see Ron Paul in it. He’s always a great voice of reason!
Agreed. I supported him in all his bids for the presidency, going way back. He kept running into dirty tactics by the establishment that always doused his chances.
What does that have to do with the price of eggs in China?
The reason Russia is such a target and a prize is not so much their financial activity. It is because of the wealth in natural resources and land mass they control. The central bankers of the "1st world" cannot control the world completely as long as Russia is independent and nationalistic. As long as Russia is outstanding they represent a source of supply of natural resources and food that the 3rd world nations such as China, India, the mid-east, can utilize. Russia must be destroyed.
Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
When was Russia nationalistic? Ever. It has always been a backwater where a small group prospered while the masses suffered. Now it is a third world country with nukes. The underlying characteristic is corruption, from the czars to Putin.
They have resources, but the recovery costs are prohibitive in the current market. Do you really think the international consortium of world bankers gets together and wonders how to strip Russia?
All the Communist leaders have ever cared about is power. What did the Russian people do to deserve this?
What they don't understand is even if you can boss around the serfs, the money you waste having a police state with a command economy can't compete. Think about it, Italy outproduces Russia.
If you're not having fun; you're not doing it right!

I’d argue that Russia has always been nationalist. They were expansionist after WW2 but even then with Russian interest first and as the hub state.
The recovery cost is still largely cost prohibitive to the Russians but I bet that the US could figure out ways to lower cost and increase efficiency.
Do US leaders ur “public servants†care about anything besides power?
The West in general knows a thing or two at this point about police states and bossing around surfs too.
Times change. Why do you suppose that the left is all firmly behind Ukraine and hates Russia with a passion? When Russia was actually commie the left loved Russia.
Houston 2 is willing to put up her gold jewelry for Louisiana’s first personal bitcoin distribution in the experimental universal wealth management system. Long live Karl Marx she says

The sad part about it is US politicians have the same vision for the United States. US politicians are quite aware Putin became the richest man in the world from a country with a GDNP smaller than Italys. Imagine the amount of wealth a handful of strong men could amass from United States.

I am positive that Russia's huge land mass and rich store of natural resources is the target. And yes Russia is nationalist and historically isolationist but has been a target of western aggression for well over 2 centuries now. If your neighbors were constantly trying to break you financially and take your property you might become a bit paranoid yourself.

The romanovs were joined at the hip with the rest of European royalty for the 300 years preceeding the commie revolution. I have something less than zero sympathy for them.
The commies, with their "vanguard communism" rightfully incurred the suspicion of the West.
The Russians are hardly victims. They want to rule the world just like everybody else does, or as close as they can get to it.
During the cold war, they broke their neighbors and took their property. What comes around goes around. Forgive? Sure. Forget? That's for fools.

Angry much?
Times change. Russia as pointed out has mostly been isolationist. Who the fug cares what happened way back then before anyone under a 100 plus years old was alive?
By comparison. Our own country had a civil war that concluded less than 160 years ago. Regardless of how you feel about that war does either side even remotely resemble 1865 USA? Times change.
Get over it. Commie Russia sucked. So did East Germany but they were probably better off in some ways than woke Muslim Germany. I’m not about to move to Russia but a valid argument could be made that it’s more decent than CA, NY, or NJ.
