I'm interested in picking up a turkey tube for my boy's 20 guage Mossberg Model 500. Does the 500 use the same tubes as the Winchester Model 1200 and 1300? I believe so, but want a more difinitive answer. Any recommendations on a brand of tube? I'm thinking about one of the extended and ported ones, but am definitely open to suggestions. If it matters, the gun is a 3" mag, but I'm pretty sure they all most all are now. We will be shooting 3" loads. Thanks for the help, folks.

Yes, Mossberg 500 uses the same choke as Winchester 1200/1300, Browning Invector, Weatherby, and Ruger, as per charts in Midsouth Shooters Catalog.
Browning Invector PLUS and Mossberg 835/935 won't fit it.

Pattern the gun before you go, as the full choke tube I got from Mossberg with a replacement vent rib barrel in the early 1980s patterned tighter in my 20 gauge than an after market extra full choke tube.

If you want the best put these three items together: Choke Tube: http://www.rhinochokes.com/Ammo: http://www.nitrocompany.com/ammunition.htm#turkey%20loadsShotgun Work: http://www.guncustomizing.com/--------------------------- I've put together over 20 different turkey guns in my life; from 10 ga to 20 ga and I've yet to find a better recipe for pure success... Here's the back side of two patterning targets I did with one of my 20 gauges... by the way, this is 40 yards and the sheets of paper are 8 1/2" x 11" standard copy paper...
