The Lightfoot scope mount is out of production!
After DECADES of letting other purchases get in the way, I finally got my hands on an undrilled 1953 Savage 99 EG .300 Sav in very good condition.
However, my eyes are no longer up the the challenge of an open sight - hence the search for a Lightfoot scope mount.
I have a nice Leupold gloss M8 4x just waiting for the job that cries itself to sleep each night waiting for an opportunity to go to work!
Anyone know where I can go to put my hands on one?
PS: If I get it drilled and tapped, how much am I hurting the value?

You can still go with a Stith. I think someone here had one for sale in the last month or so?
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

I am "thinning out the herd" on decades of accumulating parts for 99s and may have another Stith. However, like all Stith mounts, it would be restricted to using either a straight tube Weaver K2.5/K3 of a belled K4 of "the period."

While you’re waiting/looking for one of those mounts, you can use the Skinner dovetail adapter to mount a small red dot like a Burris FastFire. It slips into the rear sight dovetail, tightens with a grub screw, and has tipped brass screws fore and aft to support it and prevent marring of the barrel. I’ve used one on a Browning Low Wall Traditional Hunter, and while it's no thing of beauty, it works.
What fresh Hell is this?

I think it is called the M8... and that is if you are talking just the 1" variety. there are 3/4 and 7/8" stith also.
