I bought a red dot sight but see either a starburst or short red worm inside of a dot. The eye doc says I have a slight cataract in my master eye but not enough to operate on. Regular scopes and irons are fine (when I use my eyeglasses). Are there any reddots, prism sights, or the sort that would work for me? I can't be the only old goat with this problem.

I had the same issue until I had cataract surgery last year and opted for better grade of lenses. Now I see red dots just fine and shares of Aimpoint should be going up in value as I replace/augment scopes. The closest I came before surgery to a solution were prism sights as they can be focused to your eye. Also, illuminated LVPO scope at 1X worked well.
Good luck,

Primary Arms 1x microprism allows you to adjust the reticle to your eye.

Have you tried an Eotech? Everyone's eyes are different obviously, but I have bad cataracts and astigmatism and Eotechs are pretty good for me, whereas tubular red dots have all been really bad.

Everyones eyes are different. I had to wait several years before mine were bad enough to operate. Could see OK through a scope right up til the surgery but irons were pretty hopeless, I suspect a red dot would have been the same. The good news is, after surgery and a short period of adjustment, I can see great again.

Astigmatism. I had it. My ophthalmologist is a shooter and explained it to me. He did lasic on me and obviously during the procedure corrected it. Cataract surgery fixes it as well since you’re getting a new lens.

I have written about this before. Every male who has ever taken Floax(tamsulosin) a medication widely prescribed to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate should be aware cataract surgery will be made much more difficult. Flomax causes something called Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome. This condition can lead to, despite great surgical care, damage to the iris and to the pupil. So, if you have ever taken Flomax find a doctor who has a lot of experience dealing with IFIS.
