For sale, this very clean Marlin Original Golden 39A, manufactured in 1980 and pre-safety. It's the full sized .22 lever action, capacity 19 rounds, 24" barrel, pistol grip stock. Some extra nice wood - the butstock has a few scratches and the fore stock is well matched color wise. The metal is very good, probably around 98%. Action is crisp, no buggered screws, bore is bright, shiny and crisp. I think it's been a safe queen most of it's life. Missing the Marlin "bullseye" but these are readily available at Jack First gun parts for $10. It's wearing a Bushnell scope that was on the rifle when I bought it. I took it to a local gun show last weekend and had it appraised at $850-900 retail. They commented several times on how clean the rifle is and the dealer offered me $775. I'm asking $800 plus shipping. No trade interests, thank you.

First to post "I'll take it" followed by PM gets the gun.

First preference would be face to face with cash in Central Florida. Otherwise, USPS money order and shipping is on you to FFL only.

Cross posted!

Nice gun. I would have taken the money and not worry about shipping. But that's me.

I hear you Lazy. If this was a current prooduction gun, yeah. But the right guy isn't gonna let shipping cost between him and this exceptinal pre-safety Marlin. I sure wouldn't.

I think Lazy is saying for the 25 bucks difference, why bother packing and shipping?? I agree. Nice rifle.

I'd agree for $25, but can you really ship a rifle for $25? I thought it would be more, but I think I'll check tomorrow. I appreciate the feedback guys.

The insurance is usually just about as much as the shipping charges, and the over 30" adds $15 at least my experience. And as an additive, just like trying to get your money back from a Money Order, collecting on the insurance is a forever deal of nightmarish dealing with ignorance.

I don't believe he's saying you can ship a rifle for 25 bucks. I think what he is saying is that if you would have taken the $775 offered, you wouldn't have to worry about the packing and shipping. So the extra $25 you will be getting for the rifle, ($775 at gunshow vs. $800 on here) isn't worth the time, effort, and headache of you having to pack the rifle, get it to the carrier and then worry about it arriving to the buyer with no problems. If you would have taken the offer at the gunshow, you would've collected the $775, handed the rifle over and been done with it. Nice Marlin and another free bump!!!

The 39 comes apart so it will ship in a smaller box.

Winner winner chicken dinner. I didn't feel like explaining the obvious

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I need to spend more time on here so I won't need an interpreter. But I'm busy out here in the world doin' stuff that needs doin'. Building a log home for instance. And riding my horse. And schitt I did 15 minutes ago that I can't remember. And there's also a fair chance I have dementia, and I encourage my friends to have some fun with it. Same goes to you guys. I mean, if you can't enjoy somebody's dwindling mental capacity, what are we all doing here?? Where was I going with this...???

But seriously, thanks for the help. I am selling off nearly all my hunting and shooting stuff. Most of it is already gone. My wife passed away 6 years ago, and she was my hunting and fishing buddy. She was an assasin too, killed deer with a bow and rifle. I lost all my desire to fish or hunt after that. Tried a couple times in 2019 but couldn't enjoy it. I passed on a bunch of Elk - just couldn't do it. Anyway, somebody buy this rifle and save me the trip to the gunshow next weekend. I also have a S&W k-19 .22 Masterpiece I'm thinking about selling. It's a 1952 model, same as me but it's in way better shape than I am. Original box too. Pretty cool. I may post it in a day or two.

Thanks y'all

You probably do have dementia if you declined $775 (bird in the hand) vs. trying to sell it here asking $800

Besides that, someone should seriously consider picking up a classic rifle .
