Looking for a replacement hopefully lighter than the pairs of leather boots I own.
Low hills/mountain country. Fall hunting. Light boot maybe 400gr insulation or so. 8” high at the most.

What do you guys like?

Salomon Quest hikers early on, Crispi Guide non insulated later in season, Meindel Perfekt 400 G when the snow flies. If I start snowshoeing or hiking less I have Kennetrek Grizzly pacs. If its really cold Whites pacs.

I stopped wearing insulated boots years ago. Good wool socks and I've been good down into the teens. I suppose if I hunted in sub-zero weather.

Lately I've been wearing these. They are USA made and all leather.

Not much help for your conditions,

Around here its muck style ( i wear dry shod ) boots.

Fugging gumbo prairie mud is a pain in the caboose…

You dont shed it, it just keeps growing. Till you scrap it off..

P.s., dont get that stuff bound up in a disc gang, ive had to chop it out with a machete…..

Thanks for the replies, I’m searching them out.
I’ve gotten used to a bit of lining for the interior padding it gives if for nothing else.
Wether horseback or vehicle still a lot of walking in MT late season and the cold mornings are plenty.

Lol!!!
Found these for 20 bucks at a yard sale couple years back.
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
They got a "few" miles on them now.
Basically new when I bought them, probably some shoot house watching a corn feeder type owned them more than likely.

Some peeps on here telling me they suck.
The soles are gonna fall off.
They are gonna fall apart at the stitches.

Blah blah blah..
Same poser types that never post " pics or it never happened" of anything they kill or have killed ever.....
🤣🤣🤣

Use to just wear army ecws boots for " cold weather "
When these Rockies schit the bed.
Just find another pair of new Ecws around here at low cost.
Too easy....

Wear Wally world Brahma,s with good socks alot in cold weather also.
People laff at the Brahma,s.
A pair for under 60 bucks and the amount of mileage and varied terrian I put them through.
They last for about 12 to 15 months.
Then old pair is for lawn mowing.
And a new pair with fresh tread is bought.

Tan deserts in regular weather sometimes.

Up in Maine growing up
Pair of pacs or regular leather boots mink oiled with good socks.
Pacs suck hunting track in snow, I don't care what anyone says about that actually.
Try putting 3 to 5 miles on a track in squeaky, crunchy, or crusty snow, and having a buck key off the sound of pacs like a 2x4 on your feet in snow 3 or 4 times on one hunt.
You will shift over to a good pair of broken in mink oiled leather boots with feel to the ground their after.

BTDT and learned that as a teenager long ago.

Over the calf length socks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Have used alot of fly fishing wader socks with good boots also👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The Dickies "armoured" work over the calf length socks at wally world for around 12.50 for 3 pair are good socks in a pair of hunting boots.

Used to walk alot in a previous profession.
Good socks are big part of keeping da footies warm.

No more heavy boots is all I'll say, lots of lightweight boots to choose from, plus lightweight gaiters.
Cold weather, get a loose fitting boot - thick wool socks.

I've had Lowa & Kennetrek - I call them concrete blocks , never again.
Ankle support isn't something I need, good luck.

I like the Danner Pronghorns too. I bought a pair of the all leather 400 gram boots and they were comfortable right out of the box. I buy 1/2 - 1 size up to allow for thicker alpaca socks.

Tried Lowa sheep hunters years ago. Agree, like wearing blocks. The Crispis give good ankle support but are much less stiff. Good gaiters and 400 g meindel perfekts are what I use for most late season elk hunts were we still cover 8-10 miles.

Anytime you see "hunter" associated with boots, it's usually a no-go to me...instant red flag. For mountain hunting, I've found mountaineering boots to be the answer.

If you're whitetail hunting from a treestand just buy some cheap pair from wallyworld.

I'm a Kenetrek guy. I had been in Danner, I wore some Meindls for a few years, they were good boots. The Kenetrek fit me, love the support and am highly unlikely to be shopping others. I wish I'd found them 30 years ago.

Lowa Renegade GTX. Second choice is Oboz Bridger.

Only knock on the Oboz is they are well made but DONT run true to size. Don’t order online…..find a dealer a try on before you buy.
