If you found a white camper shell would you be ok with it on a silver truck or would you go to the expense of having it painted to match your truck?

I had a tan one on a red truck. Didn't seem to matter how the shell worked or how the truck ran.

No pics tho, tossed in the Big D.

What kinda truck?

What’s the use of the truck?

Regardless of color, you ain’t gonna be picking up MILFs at the soccer complex in a LWB truck with a turtle shell…

I have a red one on my black truck, but eventually, I plan on painting it.

I know some people don't like them but they are handy

Match it to the truck, years ago I was looking for a shell for my red truck, this loser was trying to convince me to buy used black shell he had in inventory that he probably couldn't sell instead of spending few hundred dollars to get one to match the truck. His reasoning was that I'll look like a fire engine coming down the road. So I said how about all the red SUV's, they look fine. I went to another shop and spent extra few hundred dollars and got one the same color as the truck.

My preference would be that it matches but - if the top is a make/model I want and only needs painting, buy and have it painted rather than dick around for 3 months trying to find one already done and perfect.

Find a smaller body shop outside of town or in a small community within easy commute. They tend to be priced better. Also - sometimes the local votech school with a body shop class will take in outside work for cheap to provide things for the students to practice on. Will it be perfect? Prob not. Will it be not the color you started with - yep.

Also - white/silver isn't a bad combo. I have a weird color for a truck - basically cement grey with green in it - I'd want it to match, just for me.

You can also see about simply having the shell wrapped to match the truck instead of paint. Dunno on cost difference tho.

True that.

Coordinating stripe or decal was common on the camper shell.

good paint work is expensive these days... first, all trim work & windows should be removed... all surfaces need to be abraded (sanded) for adhesion... top $$$ automotive grade base/clear should be used for durability... skilled labor for best results...

I have a red shell on a grey pickup. I think it matches okay. If not I chock it up to the redneck in me. It’s all good.
