At a function over weekend a friend’s son was really eager to win a knife he unfortunately didn’t. His dad later told me he’s been wanting to get the boy his first hunting knife. While I have been gifted some nice knives few I’ve kept. I had one a relative gave me as a thank you for the last minute need to borrow my new truck to make a hunting trip. He killed a 170”+ 9 pt with 12” back tine in eastern Canada and brought me back an eastern Canada made knife as a thank you.
My friend would like to find a similar one for his son. My oldest boy, serving currently and afraid to take the knife during his deployments, laid claim to that knife and as generous as I am I’d die before giving it to another.
I’ve a bit or more of quality 22 ammo, 308 Norma, bunch of AR stuff including Sig brace and built Black Rain lower. Wondering if anyone has a knife they’d swap for something similar to the knife I’ll link. I see Silver stag offers a similar. Boy is young and I’ve no disillusions he’ll drop or lose it. Tried telling his dad a Pukko style Benchmade with an orange grip would be a nice hunting knife with the ability to set it down and not lose it. His Dad likes my son’s knife a lot so thought I’d try here to see who has what to trade.
Small, not pointy blade, stag handle or something like that. I’m not stuck on that design but a general skinning, gutting knife or fish/bird knife is what I’m thinking.
Not that I’m selling the trade. His dad is a local trucker, mom I just met at a trout stocking board meeting her husband is indispensable to. She’s spent a while serving in the army but I’ve no background beyond that. Kid is nice well parented kid who burns for hunting/fishing.
Heck I might be overstepping trying to help out but I want to try to encourage the young guy.
I "found" this one in my knife stash. I actually had forgotten I had it. I dont know who made it, or what steel it is, but seem to recall being told it was made from a file. Very thick blade and a nice leather sheath. it is just short of seven inches long. Handle is pine cone inside of resin. Not stag, but pretty cool looking knife. Id sell it for $65 TYD

Pretty sure it was d2. A local guy made it for me but it just didn't fit my hand well.
Any interest in a German (Solingen) Edge Brand Stag Skinner? Had this in my Bowhunting backpack for decades. Don't really get out anymore, so here it is. A little bigger than a Sharpfinger, at a little over 8" overall. Has factory thumb Jimping on heel of blade. Comes with original sheath (my name in marker on back) thats missing some thread here & there, but rivets are rock solid. Overall nice shape for an older knife that was used and not abused. Id trade for some 22 lr ammo. PM me if interested.
