I see a few rifles on the classifieds page but not like this. It’s a 80’s vintage rifle with a Couple hundred rounds down the pipe so it’s a push feed. It’s in nice shape and I’m interested in buying. The pricing for these goes from 700-1300 which is pretty wild. What is a fair price for this rifle?

I see a lot of 80’s era pushfeed M70’s sell for $550-$800. Anything higher would be a testament to the rarity of that specific 270 WBY chambering I would think. When it comes to barrel burner cartridges, my preference is to buy new so I know the round count.

Makes sense and thanks for the info. The price is nearly double that and my gut said it’s way too high. I’d like to have it but I can’t be careless with a decisions either.

How serious are you about getting one? Local shop has a beautiful blued/wood w/ red pad in .270 Wby for around $800...I'm sure they would ship (its in Georgia).

I like wood furniture, and I am serious, but I'm also into convenience. What local shop has one? I am a hunter/collector, so I enjoy the hunt as much as the buy and I don't have a WBY Mag.

Agreed but with the price of Wby ammo, not many have their barrels shot out unless the shooter is a dedicated handloader. I gave up on Wbys (240 and 257 on win 70s receivers with custom barrels) as ammo was $50+ a box if you could find it (seemed expensive then, kind of the norm these days) and I packed my loading gear and haven't unpacked it yet.

I’m not a reloaded. My deer rifles get shot maybe 3rounds a year if I am not replacing a scope. Usually two [bleep] to verify zero and one shot for the deer. I’m worried about cost of ammo. A box could last me years. But the price seemed high to me just for the specialty round. If it was a new CRF, it would already be in my safe. I almost bought the one in the classifieds that was a 338 but I decided that wasn’t the best choice for whitetail and my purposes.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I bought my well used Mark V in 270 Weatherby Magnum for $800 from Cabela's gun library. It shoot .5 MOA with Weatherby factory 150g partitions at 3300 fps. I put rings and Zeiss Conquest scope on it. Very happy with it.

Found a lightly used M70 CRF in 270 WBY....is 1500 too much for that? It's a newer classic sporter.

No Model 70 can hang with it .

I don’t know. New enough to be a CRF Model 70 G serial. I like it a lot but not sure if the price is good. Seems high. I can buy a used supergrade or maple for that kind of jack.

Just buy a new Supergrade in regular 270.
There is a Weatherby Vanguard on GB in 270 WM for under $700 right now.

Just buy a new Supergrade in regular 270. This. And overpay for it if you have to - you'll be money ahead after you buy a couple of boxes of ammo.

It's probably a 6 digit classic made in '98-'99. I know the price seems high, but about what they are bringing right now. More description would help. Is it a blued wood stocked sporter? Stainless synthetic? Generally when I'm looking for a rifle, I'm not going to pay full retail for it. However, these 270 WBY rifles are a little harder to find. If you are dead set on buying one chambered for this cartridge, you may be stuck paying $1,200-$1,600.00 for one. If it were me, I'd just find a regular ol 270 winchester and rock on. The ammo is hard to find for the 270 wby and it is very expensive.

This is where I’m leaning.the one I’m referencing is blues with walnut stock. But I’m actually leaning toward a supergrade or a regular classic sporter in 7mm Rem…that’s the caliber I’ve actually be seraching for when I stumbled across all these others. 7mm Remington Mag is easy to find and will be easy to find for years to come.
