Sure - eat cake in front of the starving peasants!

No. East end of Crescent lake on the Kenai peninsula.

Rode in from Carter lake side. First mile is steep, about 1100’ gained.

Well deserved rest.

The brown horse is facing Wrong Mountain - aptly named. I may not recall correctly, but the one behind the horse may be "Right Mt". Just over the other side of the latter is Moose Pass.

The last year before regs went to full curl, I was near the top of Wrong Mt when I saw 3 rams come over the crest of Rt Mt and bed down. One looked shootable, so down the slope I went (@2 hours up, 22 minutes, flat, down) , across the valley, and hard climbed toward the sheep. When I broke the brush line, I looked back and saw two guys starting up behind me, but when they saw me they stopped to watch. I was younger then........ smile

I shot that legal wide-flare 7/8 ram at about 330 yards, (pre rangefinder) an average estimated distance between map contour, eyeball, and duplex reticle, using Stub, a 17 inch barreled RU77 in 30-06. When I got up to where he had flopped down out of sight, I could not initially locate him. He was laying 1/4 mile and 1500 feet lower down the slope, by the map. I gave him another kick and he wound up about 100 feet off a game trail out of there.

The next fall I was up there and met a couple guys who were telling me how they watched that ram spectacularly tumble end over end all the way down to where I found him - Yep, the two that had started up behind me.

One of the biggest black bears I have ever seen, I saw on Wrong Mountain, about where the brown horse is facing.

Good memories, beautifull country. Rainbows in Carter Lake, there too. I should hike up there again (sheep are drawing permit there now), just cuz.

Quite a few people flogging the water. No fish harmed by anyone.

I had a rollup of the previous night’s chicken fajitas, a couple bite size chocolate bars, and some fig bars. Spousal unit had apple slices dipped in peanut butter. Horses had grass.

Thanks for asking! 😆
