It's the Apocalypse and you can only choose one long rifle and you choose a 22 LR. It's for protection and hunting. Accuracy is important but not winning a competition important. Lot's of other things to consider. How fast can you reload? Carrying extra mags? And things I can't even think of. Bottom line is, which 22 would you choose for the Apocalypse and why?

10/22 with a suppressor. Works for the IDF.

Even with carrying mags? What mags have you had the best luck with?

I have a couple of 22s that would work, 10/22 and Bolt Action, both accurate enough...... 10/22 probably my choice, properly arranged you could go through an entire mag before many realized what's up....
Either will work, both are suppressed, you can carry a lot of 'shots' in one pocket....
The whole apocalypse thing though, IMHO, has far less to do with the artillery that you wield, but rather your ability to self-sustain, and stay out of sight............
Pockets of bad behavior is one thing, if it goes coast to coast the ramp up will be epic........ but then the real misery kicks in, food supply, fuel supply, meds and such.....
I would not wager definitively on my chances, sure will not predict yours........... I do know I do NOT want to see it!!!
YMMV

Suppressed American. But a 10/22 would also work.

My 10/22. Has a 16" stainless, fluted, threaded, bull barrel with a Deluxe-like, sporter stock, and trigger work- I'd be using a suppressor for obvious reasons. Kind of put it together with accuracy, looks, and apocalyptic possibilities in mind. Probably switch to a more compact scope if it were to be toted a lot.

50 yards, 5 shots. I'll only need one shot to increase my trove of firearms. If I want them to drop stone dead.... If they need to scream, maybe a round thru a kneecap, or perhaps the crotch will suffice. Quiet has it's advantages...

I’ve decided that if I ever have to make a break for it, I’ll tote a .22 mag, not much heavier and a lot more whack. I’m gathering ammo now for my S&W.
What fresh Hell is this?

It would be my Ruger 10/22 CSC. I was tempted to put up my M&P 15-22. Not sure about the durability long term of the plastic gun.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Ruger mark 2 10" with a make shift stock if needed and red dot with etched retical. Mine shoots good if I do my part. Ease to carry, and with lots of mags is fairly light.

I'm surprised no one said a lever action. I have a Model 60, a Heritage 6 shot revolver and I'm waiting on my Beretta M9 22 LR. I want to add one more long gun. I thought I had a deal on a 10/22 but it might be falling through. I sure like those Henry's!
