How would I best search the classifieds for something specific? Say I was looking for a Browning Auto 5 and I put those words in the search field. I do not see a box to check to search for ALL of those words like in most other forums, and it doesn’t do this by default. So instead I get pages of results every time “Browning” is mentioned, every time “Auto” is mentioned and every time “5” is mentioned. Pages of posts with nothing I actually wanted to search for.

Is the search feature seriously this limited? I can’t be the only one.

Did you ever open the question mark icon as I previously suggested? https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...ease-update-search-function#Post18071395

Another tip, I believe search terms have to be at least three characters so searching for 5 won't work.

Ahh, I never noticed that question mark or realized it was clickable. So essentially I need to add a plus sign to the keywords? Each one?

So search “+Browning, +Auto” in this case?

Nope, tried that. I still can’t get it to work. I tried plus signs and quotes. Also tried “Savage 99” and “Winchester M70”. Got nothing.

+Browning +auto

When you put quotes around something it looks for exactly what's between the quotation marks. Not surprised it didn't find any posts with the exact wording of +Browning, +Auto. Also no comma needed between your keywords. I searched earlier for +browning +auto in the classifieds and got several posts from the last year.

I just searched for "savage 99" in the classifieds and got 250 results. Search for "Winchester m70" also returned 250 in the classifieds. I'm not sure what you're doing differently.

I don’t know either. It’s very frustrating. I touch the magnifying glass, go to advanced search, free classifieds page only, and put “Savage 99” in the keywords field…

I got one result. A guy selling Ruger rings, LOL.

Are you on a mobile or a desktop. I’m using my phone.

Well, there’s the culprit. I just tried searching on my desktop and it works just fine. Totally different results than when using my phone or iPad.

Guess I shouldn’t be surprised. This site probably hasn’t had an update since before mobile phones were invented.

My results and responses to you were from an Android phone. As much as you dislike the capabilities of this site, why do you stay?

Doesn’t like my IPhone I guess.

You ask a valid question. This site has a lot of experience and it’s the people that keep me here. Either to answer questions, stir the pot or to be entertained, there’s value here. It’s just needs some modernization.

Some sub forums in the classifieds too much to ask?
