Want a lighter trigger for my Cooper 22. Read some bad reviews on Jard, but they are from years ago. Anyone with recent experience? Thanks,.
Mixed.
I'm pretty happy with my Jard 10/22 trigger. I bought the 1 pound unit. People talk up Kidd, Volquartsen, and maybe some others, but I think they are all in 3rd place or below and there is no second place. Maybe mine is accidentally good, not representative of the norm, but .. dang/wow.
I had one for a 700 that was a scary POS. It was adjustable down to 4 ounces. It would do that and the pull was nice, the problem is the safety was very stiff and the housing flexible so when engaging or disengaging the safety, the trigger housing would visibly bend/flex. That ain't posta happen. I never had it drop the sear but I always expected it. I used it w/o the safety for a while on a varmint rifle, then gave it to a gunsmith friend so he would have a really light trigger available when testing customer guns.
I think I might have used Jard parts on some Ruger 77 Mk IIs and Ruger 77/22s long ago. Those were ok, required some fiddling to reduce engagement same as factory.
All in all, I think I prefer Timney very slightly, absolutely prefer TriggerTech or Jewell if available.
