Was at Sharp Shooters gun store in Lubbock Saturday. They had 10 boxes of 7mm PRC 175 ELD-X. I bought seven boxes. I don't own a rifle for that cartridge. The design and ballistics of the round sure do seem about perfect.
I went home and started researching factory rifles with a Bergara Crest and Seekins PH2 coming to the top of the list but there not exactly what I want. I took a look at GA Precision, which are really nice rifles, but not cheap.
I think I've about settled on buy the components and put it together. I'm thinking a Bartlein 3B fluted and finished at 22", a Manners MCS-EHI or MCS-PH. Not sure regarding action or bottom metal yet, but will will probably go DBM. Also, not sure on action, but may go Defiance.
Regarding scopes, I don't like any of them. Nightforce reticles options or lack there of are truly awful for a hunting rifle. Schmidt & Bender are expensive and don't have good flexibility for eye relief. I've been using a few Vortex and am not sure what I think yet. SWFA generally work pretty well but the glass and scopes look cheap. I know there are more I haven't tried, but haven't found what I like.
I have a resource for machine work. Will do bedding and assembly myself. A few decisions to be made.
