A while back I saw that Remington introduced a new version of the Rem 700. It looks like Remington has been listening to their customers.
The new version has a bolt release on top near the receiver instead of in front of the trigger, a one piece bolt, new type of extractor, and it comes with a Timmney trigger. So far it is only offered with a hunter styled stock and in 6.5 Creed but I'm sure more versions will be introduced.
Anybody buy one yet. If you have one what do you think of it?
I did a search here and could not find any previous threads on this rifle. Apologies if this has been discussed already.

Probably better options out there for the 1750.00 price tag

Stock fore end looks like someone designed it Friday at 4:59 PM.

Bergara Premier Mountain 2.0 gives you all those features, a AG Composites stock and extra chambering options for about 150$ more

Local shop had one I was able to pick up and handle last week. To me the stock dimensions are HORRID. It's like they started off with something similar to a NULA/Fieldcraft and then made it 50% larger in every aspect. It's also MUCH heavier than it needs to be.

Very easy PASS for me.

I'm interested in what the mag box length is on the SA's, seeing as how they claim its longer than the standard 700.

I agree. Why the heavyish barrel? Is it the same barrels as the CDL SF’s? I believe they are magnum contour with fluting . And a 22” threaded barrel? GMAFB

Need to preface all Alpha1 discussions with model/caliber. Some are already available, others remain in pipeline.

For me, I'm trying to get my hands on the Alpha1 in 7mm Rem Mag. Listed as SKU R68889, 7.8# with heavy fluted barrel. Really like the 5R hammer forged barrel with 1:8" twist (which noone else offers) which will stabilize high BC bullets. Was seriously considering Tikka but, even with hammer forged barrel, their 1:9.5" twist rate won't handle high BC bullets. [For comparison, the Bergara mentioned above is button rifled, 2+1 round capacity, and only 1:9.5" twist...for a 28Nosler. Not interested in the punch from a 28Nosler on a 6.4# rifle...weight is not a consideration for my moose hunts.]

Really want to handle an Alpha1 before buying, but Rem rep said they're "working on creating inventory" for the 7RM and I should not expect to see it before 4Q2023. So the wait continues.

The "Old School" OEM Big Green 7mm Rem Mags can/will/do stabilize the .796 BC 180 ELD M,in issued 9.25" RPM guise. Further,it will Smooch same and comfortably house it within mag confines. All during the dead of Winter at Low Tide. Hint.

I likely shoot a "few". Hint.

Just sayin'.

Thank me later.

I would also like to see a wood stock version. I like the new improvements and will wait to see what other versions are released.
