Liberty Safes is getting dragged right now. If they believe a valid law enforcement search warrant has been issued for an address, they will provide back door codes to open gun safes to law enforcement at the scene. They don't need to be served the warrant, just be told about it over the phone. They've never disclosed the existence of these back door codes to buyers or owners that anybody is aware of, though some few people knew. IANAL, but without being served a warrant/subpoena they probably don't have a legal obligation to provide the codes. It may be more than just Liberty Safes. They specifically got caught providing codes to the FBI when they raided somebody at the J6 protests recently. If you own stock.. might want to dump it for the moment. Their statement:

Not a lawyer, don't know exactly how this could play out.
But I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut that the safe is gonna be opened.
You open it, Liberty helps open it, or they peel it.
I'd also bet many of them would enjoy watching some guy peel it.
Not happy to hear of this, but it doesn't change the end results.
Just dawned on me how out of date I've become. Used to be risking a dollar to get a doughnut was a bad bet. That's changed.

My old manual safe has no such back door. They’d just give them the actual combination. E-locks can be changed, Liberty would have no way of knowing what the combo would be hence the back door code.

anyone that thinks their home safe offers protection is delusional. At best, your safe is a speedbump

That's messed up, but if they have that kind of warrant, could they just put the jaws of life on it and open it up regardless?

Bought an electronic safe at a yard sale. Owner didn’t have combo. Contacted the company and sent them an affidavit and serial number, they sent me the unchangeable factory combo so i could input a new one for myself.

If the Feds want into your safe, they will get into with or without the code. A locksmith can open it a relatively short time or they can just cut through the side with a grinder. If you are at the point with Feds in your house with a warrant, you might as well open it and not have it destroyed.

Why would Liberty Safe be handing out door codes to LE, warrant or not? Whether and how LE gets into a person's safe is between the owner and LE.
And this is another reason why mechanical locks are better. Change the combination to your own choosing as soon as you get the safe, so only you know what it is.

If the code exists, its out. You can probably google it. Some of the biggest blabbermouths I know are Cops.

Dude, its a backdoor code. Changing your combo does nothing. My god. Didn't have your coffee yet. Ding ding ding McFly.

If they have a warrant which Liberty said they did and validated the feds are going to get into the safe one way or the other.

I always figured a "master key" would work. Like when you change Batteries . Slide off your face, slide on the master, bing bing bing bing voi'la.
At least the PD or Locksmith, or Theif, would have to invest in a master key pad.
But to have a back door master code ! Might as well leave it unlocked.

Liberty has all of the original manual lock codes as well so better change them if yours is still original.
I bought a safe once that was locked and the seller didn't have the combo. It was left in a house that he bought. I was banking on liberty having the code and with the serial number, a bill of sale, along with a letter they sent me the code for $35
