Put this into the Marlin Talk subforum but figured it was newsworthy enough to post twice. Basic blued/walnut 1894 .44 Magnum with a twist, a 1 in 20" twist to be exact. Marlin 1894

Purty 'lil thing. Maybe later.
Bunkhouse full of Cowboys, Guides, SBL and CBAs all vying for attention with that around.
Hmm...could end up spawning something new in the safe.

Not threaded? I'll pass. Me too, I already have a pre-safety JM '94, so the only one that would get me to slap leather is a threaded Trapper configuration.

Well the 1/20 twist is a a step in the right direction.

I have a JM 1894SS and I don't have any trouble shooting 200 to 240 grain bullets. I know there are some who want to shoot 300 grain bullets but that is why I have a 45-70.

I'm hoping they come out with the big loop lever version. Then I'm in.

I sure hope they got the bore dimensions straight and shoot better accuracy wise than the JM versions!

Just this past week I picked up one of these 1894's in .44 Mag. I have been looking for a lever .44 Mag for quite a while. Current used prices seemed crazy high to me so had been holding out for some kind of "deal". Once I was able to see, touch, and hold the new Ruger made Marlin, I pulled the trigger so to speak. The fit and finish of my particular rifle was in my opinion, excellent. The bluing is also top notch. Over the past couple years, I had looked at upwards of 2 dozen Marlins, Winchesters, Henrys, and a couple Rossi lever actions in .44 Mag. All the JM Marlins and Winchesters were almost twice the price of the new Marlin. Adding a Skinner peep and a leather wrapped medium loop lever from Ranger Point Precision. By no means a Marlin expert but I have owned all the other brands in different calibers. If my sample of one is consistent with the rest of the production rifles, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase.

I have no doubt that Ruger will be making finer rifles than Marlin did.
