Well, first of all I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that provided input on a previous thread I started about a father/son trip to AK. This was my first trip to AK and I was able to take my oldest son who wanted to experience camping and photo shooting this beautiful part of the world. He is a senior in high school this year, and hopes to pursue sports photography with sports management as a backup plan:). Quick recap - we rented a Jeep with a rooftop tent and after landing in Anchorage, headed south. We spent time in Hope (1 night), Seward (2 nights), Homer (3 nights), then back up to Whittier and Girdwood to round out the trip, before flying back out of Anchorage (1 week trip). As advised, there was quite a bit of rain, but we managed to stay dry and had a blast together. We met some fun/crazy people, who were very helpful and polite, and saw scenery both words and pictures cannot do justice. Below are a few of the pictures my son took, and I tried to provide a location of each picture. at the Seward/Homer split on hwy1
view from the KOA campground at the top of the hill just outside of Homer (after the Thursday night football game watching at Alibi)
We pulled off the road a few times whenever my son would say, "Dad, pull over, I got another picture....". This was one of those spots.
Homer/Seward split again. Miller's Landing - Seward
Railroad tracks south of Anchorage Diamond Creek, basically at the bottom of the creek where it dumps into the Bay. Diamond Creek Trail, Homer
This trail was about 1 mile from the Hope turnoff on Hwy 1. Some locals told us about it, led us to a bridge that crosses the creek. Many pictures from this spot. At the bridge turnoff before going into Hope. I took this picture of him....
Another road turnoff. I believe this was north of Seward (probably leaving Seward and making our way to Homer) Ill add a few more pictures to another post. Then I will be done, promise....

Father/son picture - top of Portage Pass Portage Glacier - Whittier Portage Pass - Whittier Waterfall - around the backside of Whittier (dead end, creepy road...) Portage Pass I believe - Whittier Same little guy at the Ferry crossing - Coopers Landing There's a few others, but I think you get the drift. We had a great time! as someone had mentioned, this was a great trip to get an idea of AK, but we need to spend a lot more time there. Maybe next time we will get off the beaten path and fly into some cool spots. Until then, I will chase whitetails in SE Iowa. Thanks again everyone - you have a beautiful place up there!

I am guessing he didn't take those with a cell phone..... Correct - he used a Sony a7RIII - some with a Sigma 24-70 art and some with the Sony 70-200 GM v.2

I’m so glad you guys got to spend an unforgettable week together in God’s most perfect creation, Alaska!
Your son definitely has a good eye for composition and his photos are fantastic! I’m sure he has a future in photography if that’s his desire. 👍🏼
Are you planning a return trip yet? Every time I went to Alaska it got harder and harder to leave it. Now I don’t HAVE to leave but I can when I want…😉
Thanks for sharing your trip and pictures.

You didn't get to see much of Alaska but you saw some of it pretty good!

Unfortunately No. The salmon were in the zombie stage, but I was able to find one that wasn't completely gone yet and was able to corner this guy and get him bare handed. He was safely returned to the stream (where he probably lived another 20 minutes...). This was at the mouth of Diamond Creek in Seward.
